History

• Gregers Alfred Rudolf Hovmand (1843-1899)
  1872 - Established the firm ALFR. HOVMAND with two sailing vessels, "Vega" and "Vesta" which plied between Copenhagen and Bandholm with general cargo.
  1876 - Official appointment as shipbroker in Bandholm.
   
• Hans Christian Lund Hovmand (1870-1951)
  1900 - Returned to Bandholm after 10 years in shipping companies in England and Riga, Estonia.
  1918 - Disponent owners for the steamship company "Smaalandshavet" which ran ferries between Bandholm and the islands Askø, Fejø and Femø.
  1926 - Appointed British Consul in Bandholm.
   
• Gregers Hovmand (1910-2001)
  1935 - Returned to Bandholm after shipping experience in Hamburg, London  and Newcastle.
  1947 - Sole owner of the company.
  1959 – Started agency in Rødbyhavn.
  1963 - The ferry company dissolved and the routes taken over by the Borough Council.
   
• Niels Alfred Hovmand
  1977 - Returned to Bandholm after working in shipping companies in London, Hamburg and Copenhagen. Established Hoban Marine for operating timecharter vessels.
  1981 - Opened subsidiary office in Rødbyhavn.
  1985 - Took over full control of ALFR. HOVMAND.
